Luke Rockhold has been forced out of his upcoming rematch against Chris Weidman at UFC 230 due to multiple injuries. Rockhold told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani that he is currently dealing with a left shin sprain, a sprained right knee, and a broken nose.

Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza, who was scheduled to compete against David Branch on the same card, will step in to fight Weidman.

Souza (25-6-1NC) is coming off of a split decision loss to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 224 in May. A former Strikeforce middleweight champion, “Jacaré” holds an Octagon record of 8-3 since joining the UFC in 2013.

Weidman (14-3) most recently snapped a three-fight losing streak by defeating Kelvin Gastelum via third-round submission in July of last year. A former UFC middleweight champion, Weidman holds a 10-3 record inside of the Octagon.
