Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson joined Ariel Helwani on ESPN’s Helwani Show this week to discuss his recent trade to ONE Championship in exchange for Ben Askren heading to the UFC.

Johnson (27-3-1) said that he’s “ecstatic” with the move to ONE and has already restructured a brand new contract with the promotion. While Johnson didn’t disclose the full details of his new deal, he told Helwani that he plans to fight under the ONE banner for five-six years and then call it a career. According to Johnson, this was the last contract that he plans to sign before retiring from the sport.

Although “Mighty Mouse” is the most decorated flyweight fighter in MMA history, he doesn’t expect any special treatment at ONE. He expects to “climb the ladder” to title contention just like every other competitor in the division. Johnson considers himself the “new kid on the block” at ONE.
