Raphael Assuncao vs. Marlon Moraes 2 Targeted for February
A rematch between Raphael Assuncao and Marlon Moraes is being targeted for the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 2 on February 2. The bout has been verbally agreed to and his close to being finalized.
Assuncao (27-5) defeated Moraes in their first meeting via split decision back at UFC 212 in June of last year. He’s currently riding a four-fight win streak, most recently winning a unanimous decision over Rob Font at UFC 226 in July. Assuncao sits at #3 on the official UFC bantamweight fighter rankings.
Moraes (21-5-1) is currently riding a three-fight win streak that includes victories over John Dodson, Aljamain Sterling, and Jimmie Rivera. He’s coming off of a first-round KO win over Rivera in June. Moraes sits at #4 of the official UFC bantamweight fighter rankings.
Moraes claimed on Twitter that his rematch against Assuncao will be for the interim UFC bantamweight championship, although as of this writing there has been no announcement from the promotion about a title being on the line.
