Sage Northcutt Signs With One Championship
ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong announced via Twitter that “Super” Sage Northcutt has officially signed with the promotion.
Sityodtong tweeted: “Please join me in giving a big welcome to multiple-time karate world champion, Black Belt Hall of Famer, and rising global mixed martial arts superstar Sage Northcutt to ONE Championship!”
Northcutt immediately responded with a tweet of his own: “It’s an honor to be a part of the One Championship family! I’m looking forward to being a part of something great.”
Northcutt (11-2) is only 22 years old and is currently riding a three-fight win streak, most recently defeating Zak Ottow via second-round KO in July.
Sage’s signing comes off the heels of UFC President Dana White publicly stating that the UFC opted to not renew Northcutt’s contract on UFC Unfiltered earlier this week. White told Jim Norton and Matt Serra: “Sage is young, and Sage needs some work. Let him get some work in some other organizations, and we will see where this kid ends up in a couple of years. Maybe we will pick him back up again.”
