Daniel Cormier made Derrick Lewis tap out to a rear-naked choke in the second round of the UFC 230 main event to retain his UFC heavyweight championship. After his win, DC once again called out current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for a showdown towards the beginning of 2019.

In the co-main event, Ronaldo “Jacaré” Souza dropped Chris Weidman with a punch in third round that knocked out the former UFC middleweight champion. Referee Dan Miragliotta refused to initially call off the fight, causing Jacaré to reluctantly finish off Weidman with multiple hammerfists.
