UFC announced today via their social media that Thiago Santos will now take on Jimi Manuwa in the main event of UFC Sao Paulo on September 22. Glover Teixeira was originally scheduled to battle Manuwa but had to withdraw from the bout due to injury.

Santos (18-6) has earned octagon victories over notable names such as Elias Theodorou, Nate Marquardt, and Anthony Smith since joining the UFC in 2013. He currently holds a UFC record of 10-5 and is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Kevin Holland at UFC 227 in August.

Manuwa (17-4) currently holds a 6-4 record since joining the UFC back in 2012. The "Poster Boy" holds notable wins over Jan Blachowicz, Ovince Saint Preux, and Corey Anderson. He's coming off of two consecutive losses for the first time in his career, most recently dropping a unanimous decision in a rematch to Blachowicz in March.
