Report: Amanda Nunes vs. Holly Holm for Bantamweight Title at UFC 237
Per Combate, Amanda Nunes may be putting her UFC bantamweight championship on the line against Holly Holm at UFC 237 on May 11 in Curitiba, Brazil.
Dana White announced yesterday that the scheduled contest between Holly Holm and Aspen Ladd was removed from UFC 235, with White saying that the organization was working on different opponents for each fighter.
Nunes (17-4) is coming off of a monumental first-round knockout victory over Cris Cyborg at UFC 232 in December. The win over Cyborg earned Nunes the UFC featherweight championship, making Nunes the first dual-weight champion in women’s UFC history. “The Lioness” is currently riding a eight-fight win streak that includes victories over the likes of Cyborg, Valentina Shevchenko (x2), Miesha Tate, and Ronda Rousey.
Holm (12-4) is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Megan Anderson at UFC 225 in June. “The Preacher's Daughter” is most well-known for defeating Ronda Rousey via head-kick KO for the UFC bantamweight championship at UFC 193 back in November of 2015. She has won 2 of her last 3 bouts inside of the Octagon.
