Former UFC light heavyweight champion Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort has signed a multifight contract with ONE Championship. The announcement was made earlier tonight by ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

Belfort (26-14-1NC) is coming off of a second-round knockout loss to Lyoto Machida at UFC 224 last May. “The Phenom” retired from the sport following his loss to Machida, but made his intentions of a return known in December on ESPN’s Helwani Show.

Belfort holds victories over the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Randy Couture, Rich Franklin, Anthony Johnson, Michael Bisping, Luke Rockhold, and Dan Henderson throughout a career that spans all the way back to 1996.

"Vitor is hands down, one of the biggest names in mixed martial arts. He is a legend across the world, and we are thrilled to have him as ONE expands into South America,” Sityodtong said during the announcement.

"I cannot wait to see his explosive power and his exciting knockout finishes inside the ONE cage."
