A rematch between top flyweight contenders Joseph Benavidez and Jussier Formiga is official for UFC Minneapolis on June 29.

Benavidez (27-5) defeated Formiga via first-round TKO in their initial meeting back in September of 2013. He’s coming off of back-to-back victories over Alex Perez and Dustin Ortiz, most recently earning a unanimous decision win over Ortiz in January. The former flyweight title challenger holds an Octagon record of 14-3 since making the jump from the WEC to the UFC in 2011.

Formiga (23-5) is riding a four-fight win streak, most recently defeating Deiveson Figueiredo by unanimous decision in Nashville last month. He holds notable victories over the likes of Sergio Pettis, Dustin Ortiz, Wilson Reis, and Scott Jorgensen.

It’s worth noting that the official fight announcement from the UFC included the question: “Who deserves the shot at a flyweight title!?”
