A welterweight contest between Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis has been verbally agreed to for UFC 241 on August 17. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani broke the news on Twitter.

Diaz (19-11) is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Conor McGregor all the way back at UFC 202 in August of 2016. Prior to that loss, Diaz had defeated McGregor and also holds notable Octagon wins over the likes of Takanori Gomi, “Cowboy” Cerrone, Gray Maynard, and Michael Johnson.

Pettis (22-8) is coming off of a second-round KO victory over Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in March. The former UFC lightweight champion holds notable wins over Benson Henderson (x2), Jeremy Stephens, “Cowboy” Cerrone, Gilbert Melendez, Michael Chiesa and many others.
