A featherweight title fight between champion Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar has been verbally agreed to for UFC 240 on July 27. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto broke the news on Twitter.

Holloway (20-4) is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to Dustin Poirier for the vacant interim lightweight title at UFC 236 last month. Prior to that loss, “Blessed” was riding a 12-fight win streak that included victories over the likes of Charles Oliveira, Jeremy Stephens, Anthony Pettis, José Aldo (x2), and Brian Ortega.

Edgar (23-6-1) is coming off of a unanimous decision win over Cub Swanson last April. The former UFC lightweight champion holds notable victories over the likes of BJ Penn (x3), Urijah Faber, Chad Mendes, Yair Rodríguez, and many others throughout an MMA career that spans back to 2005.

UFC 240 will take place at the Rogers Palace in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
