A lightweight championship unification bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier will officially headline UFC 242 on September 7.

Nurmagomedov (27-0) is coming off of a suspension following his fourth-round submission victory over Conor McGregor at UFC 229 last October. “The Eagle” holds notable Octagon wins over McGregor, RDA, Michael Johnson, Edson Barboza, and Al Iaquinta.

Poirier (25-5-1NC) most recently defeated featherweight champ Max Holloway for the interim lightweight belt via unanimous decision at UFC 236 in April. “The Diamond” is unbeaten since Feb. of 2017 and holds wins over the likes of Holloway (x2), Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje, and Eddie Alvarez.

UFC 242 will take place in Abu Dhabi.
