Alistair Overeem vs. Walt Harris in a battle of hard-hitting heavyweights has been verbally agreed to headline UFC Fight Night on December 7 in Washington, D.C. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported the news of the matchup.

Overeem (45-17-1NC) is coming off of back-to-back victories over Sergei Pavlovich and Alexey Oleynik, most recently defeating Oleynik via first round TKO in April. “The Demolition Man” is a former Strikeforce and DREAM heavyweight champion, as well as a former K-1 kickboxing champion. He holds notable wins over the likes of Vitor Belfort (x2), Igor Vovchanchyn, Fabricio Werdum (x2), Brock Lesnar, Frank Mir, Junior dos Santos, and many others throughout an MMA career that spans all the way back to 1999. Overeem sits at #7 on the official UFC heavyweight rankings.

Harris (13-7-1NC) is coming off of a win against Alexey Oleynik last month. Harris’ victory over Oleynik came via knockout only 12 seconds into the first round. In fact, all seven of Harris’ Octagon wins have been by KO/TKO. “The Big Ticket” currently sits at #11 on the official UFC heavyweight rankings.
